HARBOUR CLUB, KENSINGTON, LONDON

In June 2017, the rebranded and fully refurbished Harbour Club Kensington was completed.

The building itself has had a number of uses over the decades, before its eventual transformation in to the state-of-the-art gym it is today. In its previous incarnations it has served as the setting off point for travellers of British Airways, where passengers would wait for coaches to Heathrow Airport. This glamorous air of mid-century travel provided inspiration for the brand new interiors with echoes of Sol Bass’ bold graphics and chic 60s design recreated in Harbour Club’s luxury restaurants, bars and lounges.

Continuing the proud lineage of such a prestigious club, famous as Princess Diana’s patronage in the 1990s, was of paramount importance to our design. The gym and fitness facilities are second-to-none, with much care and attention paid to creating vibrant and stimulating spaces to exercise as well as calming spaces to rest and relax. This contrast between movement and tranquillity is part of what makes this club so individual to its users.

Set against the bustling backdrop of Cromwell Road, the 4-floor site created many challenges. However, utilising the building’s many unique spaces we were able to create a user experience unavailable to any other fitness club. By maximising usable area and grouping similar activities the club feels simultaneously intimate and spacious, capable of serving its members.

Among the many facilities on offer are an indoor pool, spa, children’s crèche, London’s first PRAMA destination, luxury restaurant and bar, family adult and business lounges and exclusive BLAZE High Intensity studios.
