Europe’s leading health, fitness and wellness group, David Lloyd Clubs has over 139 clubs across nine European countries. Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson architects have worked with David Lloyd Clubs for over 18 years as their lead Architect on projects in the UK and throughout Europe, providing architecture, structural engineering and interior design services on both refurbishment and new build projects. We have also been responsible for the design of new concepts such as Blaze, Delta Studios, Workstation and Spa Retreats.
David Lloyd Shrewsbury has recently undergone a transformative £11 million investment project, establishing it as a premier health and wellbeing destination. As the lead architects and interior designers, our focus centered on a complete modernisation of the club's infrastructure, introducing a dedicated Spa Retreat and enhancing existing facilities through a premium aesthetic.
The comprehensive improvements enrich the member experience across fitness, relaxation, and social spaces, facilitated by redesigned layouts and high-end finishes throughout the club.
The gym has been completely transformed with the introduction of state-of-the-art equipment and a modernised layout designed to optimise training flow.
Beyond the gym floor, the club now features a suite of brand-new, dedicated fitness studios. This includes a Mind & Body holistic studio, alongside newly introduced Rhythm and Cyclone cycling studios, High Impact Studio and a high-intensity BLAZE studio. Additionally, the club has expanded its racquet offering with the installation of external premium Padel courts.
A signature addition to the site is the brand-new Spa Retreat and outdoor Spa Garden, offering a dedicated sanctuary for relaxation and recovery. This world-class facility includes a hydropool, a cold plunge pool, and a variety of heat experiences such as a Himalayan salt sauna and a crystal steam room with bespoke aromatherapy.
The outdoor spa garden further extends this wellness experience with fire pits and loungers, providing a tranquil year-round environment for members.
The Clubroom has been reimagined as a central hub, offering a refreshed dining and social area alongside a sophisticated, adults-only business lounge for dedicated workspace.
Family facilities have also been significantly upgraded, featuring the sports hall and refreshed activity rooms.
The swimming offering has been further enhanced with a new 25m heated outdoor pool, reflecting a commitment to providing an exceptional and diverse club experience for all members and complete refresh of the internal pool hall and kids pool.
