HCD were appointed to develop a new boutique hospital concept working alongside the head of hospitals and marketing. The success of this exercise, lead to HCD being appointed on the Brentwood refurbishment project. This was in 2010, since then we have undertaken five projects in this hospital over a period of 6 years.
The scheme involved the phased refurbishment of the entire hospital including the main reception, outpatients, endoscopy, bedroom accommodation, pharmacy and the operating theatres.
The work took place over a period of 6 years in a live hospital environment meaning that the facility had to remain operational at all times.
In total, four operating theatres were fully refurbished and modernised, one of which was upgraded to become a state of the art digital theatre suite. Images from this theatre are linked to the meeting rooms allowing consultants to view operations in real time.
The external façade of the building was also upgraded to reinforce the new brand image with cladding, render, new lighting, signage and landscaping. The successful scheme took a collection of disparate elements and amalgamated them into a unified facility.
