University of surrey sports park, Guildford, SURREY
Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson has worked with the University of Surrey over the past decade on several prestigious projects, the first of which being their main sports facility, Surrey Sports Park.
Surrey Sports Park is a £36m elite training venue which offers world class sports and events facilities. Situated 30 minutes outside London, the park played host to 16 Olympic and Paralympic teams for pre-London 2012 training, including GB Basketball, USA Triathlon and Chinese Synchronised Swimming.
This extensive project totals over 115,000 sqft of modern sporting facilities, and includes:
two multi-purpose sports halls, six squash courts, a 50m eight lane swimming pool, dance studios, fitness gym, climbing wall, changing areas, bar, restaurant and catering facilities. External changing facilities serve seven grass playing pitches, two all-weather pitches and eight tennis courts.
Surrey Sports Park has become home to a number of professional teams due to its specialist training and conditioning facilities. It is the permanent training base for the Harlequins Rugby Union Team, Surrey Storm Netball Team, Surrey United Basketball Team and Guildford City Swimming Club. It is also the regular training base for England women’s Rugby and Lacrosse teams.
In addition to architectural design, Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson were also responsible for interior design, branding and logo design.
