University of Sheffield, Hendersons Relish Factory, Sheffield
Work is ongoing for the refurbishment and extension of the famous Henderson’s Relish Factory in Sheffield. The historic building has long been a landmark of the city but has fallen into disrepair after the company moved to new premises in 2013. In 2015 the site was purchased by Sheffield University, who opened a national design competition to transform the building into a contemporary public house.
Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson are delighted to have emerged as the winner of the competition and to be given the opportunity to bring our design to fruition.
The design blends together a sympathetic restoration of the existing building and the introduction of bold new architectural features to create a building that will form a new focal point for the university.
